Do You Know a Story Ended with Steak Platter Ending?

Story is usually ended with happy ending or bad ending, right? Have you heard about a story ended with steak platter ending? How come?

Wow, hey, guys. Welcome back, just chill first and keep your curiosity, okay? I will tell you about that here. For those who still don't know about me, I am Felix. I am an undergraduate student and also a food enthusiast. Today's article is going to be different from my previous articles. For today's article, I just want to share my experiences as an event leader in my church event on 15th November 2025. Yes, it is super fresh story and has just finished several days ago, and I can't wait to share with you guys about this amazing journey in my life.

So firstly, to make it clear, I think you guys need to know these several things first about me. Yes, I am devout Christian, and I am quite active in the church's organizational structure as a servant. I often to serving as a musician in my church (I play keyboard, bass, and guitar) and also as a member of servant resource development in my church. Basically, I am the one with another people who serving the servants and managed how the servants could be utilized properly and growing spiritually.

It was a huge honored for me as a part of this incredible team. They were all full of energy, their heart also full too serving the best even several of them are almost 40 years old, it was a fantastic start actually. But at the same time I was a little bit pressured. I don't know why this was happening to me, even though I knew that they treated me as their friend too but as the youngest member of this team, I still didn't familiar for me to have a discussion with the older person, especially for the age's gap is quite far from me. I just assume that I was grown in Asian culture who quite suppressed the freedom of speech. But, yeah, life must go on, and I have appointed to this team. I committed that I need to contribute.

After several times we had some meetings, I started to follow and join the discussion with them, and I realized I enjoy it too and I also have learned so many things from them. I learned how they able to handle objections, knowing their cognitive ways, even how to deliver the messages well. It was exciting to listen their discussions, even sometimes there was several generation barriers, something that they able to understand but not for me as a gen Z.

Slowly but sure, I involved to their discussion, and I start shared several things especially the servant needs in teens ministry of my church (because I am the part of the teens ministry too). I also didn't feel rejected, even my argument was wrong or irrelevant. They keep state their opinion politely, with full of respect too. They also didn't underestimate me.

And then, the day had come. During our discussion that located in Kopi Aming, Tanjung Duren, West Jakarta, I tried to state my concept about the outcoming church's event. So, at that time, we were discussing about this year's event concept, the concept of servant appreciation moment. And I argued that as the servant of the church's servants, we need to welcome them with full of joy as a champion that has just won the tournament. Then, they reacted in the positive ways, and they told me that my idea was great. And I just want to encourage to the members of my who read this, to stay active and be yourself. People will respect your authenticity as long as you respect them as well.

Several weeks later, the head of servant resource development contacted me. This was the most unexpected chat from her. She contacted me, then she stated again about her great impression about my concept. Then she appointed me as an event leader of church's servant appreciation moment in 2025. I was speechless, I was confused, but at the same time really grateful to have this opportunity. "Yes, ma'am" said I to her.

Well, it was not the end of this story. This was the start. The first experience to lead them too, not just discussing the concept. I was doubting about my own capacities to lead them. But, day by day passed, I feel they really supported me. There was a moment that I felt I was quite useless, because I was not that dominant in the meeting. Even in fact, I was contributed on the event design, but I realized that I need to learn from them again more and more especially how they served the best for the servants and teammates.

My leader said to me that she intended to serve the best dishes to the servant. She stated that she wanted steak. She wanted the servants feel appreciated. It made me impressed for her. Thing that I impressed on her more is when the steak's total price was overbudget. I was shocked for that news, and she just said that she would handle the remaining by her own budget. I didn't only learn about giving the best, but a sacrifice to giving the best is sometimes needed and inspiring others.

Shortly, the d-day was coming. We fasted, we prayed, and we were ready to serve the best with our preparation that we have done before. We agreed that we need the Lord's mercy in this event. And boom. The servants looked so happy with our service and satisfied for the special chicken steak. They chit-chatted with one another, laughing together, enjoying moment together by a platter of chicken steak made our hearts were melting.

A platter of chicken steak that consisted spaghetti, fench fries, sausage, steak, and vegetables. So yummy.

I would not explain more about the food, because the chicken steak was absolutely delicious. Juicy, fatty, smoky, and the corn was fresh too. Barbeque sauce was perfect when it combined with the steak and sausage. Spaghetti also very great too. With the savory french fries made it so much pleasure in my mouth. This is the one of the best chicken steak I ever ate in my life.

And lastly, this team this period will come to an end. The taste of delicious food was temporary, but the moment, the goodness of someone is eternal life in our heart. Really grateful for this wonderful team and such a pleasure to collaborate with another generations' heart. Hope we can learn to give the best to other people that we love, as same as what they did for me and for the servants in the church.  May God bless you. To God be the Glory.
